Review: Boots Original Dry Shampoo

In the beauty world, we're all well aware that Batiste are currently the reigning champions when it comes to dry shampoo - their products are consistently excellent, not to mention cheap, with cheerful packaging. So why would anyone want to try anything else?

Well, recently I've decided to do just that: try out dry shampoos from different brands, and see how they fare up against the almighty Batiste. First on the agenda is the Boots Original Dry Shampoo. This initially caught my attention because it was down from €2.99 to only €2, so it wouldn't hurt to try it, right? It has all the promises of a typical dry shampoo: to refresh hair, add some body and bounce, with a light fragrance.

If you're not familiar with using dry shampoo, it's very simple: you just spray the product into the roots of your hair (holding the can roughly 30cm away), then use your fingertips to massage it into the hair. Grab a brush or comb and use it to remove any excess product, and voilá, clean, fresh looking hair!

I've been using this Boots dry shampoo for quite a while now, and I can honestly say, there's barely any difference between it and Batiste's products. It does exactly the same job - refreshes the hair while adding a little extra volume, and for one euro less! Sure, the packaging's not as pretty as Batiste's, but at such a great price, I'm not complaining! It does have the same little faults as Batiste - the fragrance can be slightly overpowering, depending on how much you use. It can turn your hair grey too, but obviously, this goes away after a quick massage into the roots.

The Boots Original Dry Shampoo retails usually at €2.99 for 200ml, but is currently on offer at €2. The Batiste Original Dry Shampoo (Clean & Classic) retails at €3.99 in Boots, for 200ml. I know it's only a euro in the difference, but it all adds up, especially if you regularly buy dry shampoo. I try to buy Batiste's products when they're on offer in Boots, but otherwise, I think I'll be sticking to the Boots offering!

What's your favourite dry shampoo? Will you be trying this one? xo
